Job Description

Passion for Life (PFL) seeks individuals to serve as Career Coaches for the organization. This role helps middle and high school students identify passions and skills and explore career options that will lead to a career aligned with their passion. In this role, the Career Coach will facilitate an in-person interactive workshop, lead small group coaching sessions with youth to help them identify their career interests, and develop a career exploration plan.  This role is excellent for people who love and have the patience to help people reach their full potential. It is a perfect opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students who desire counseling, career coaching, and community service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Guide students in identifying personal interests, core strengths, and career goals 
  • Lead and facilitate high energy group sessions based on provided workshop script with students on topics that aid in self-discovery and career exploration and planning
  • Passion for Life abides by COVID-19 safety guidelines released by the CDC, and our coaches are also expected to do so.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, or a related human service field
  • Must be classified as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  •   Patience and understanding of students from different socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Excellent rapport building skills – a “natural ability” to make clients feel cared about
  • Strong sense of empathy, positive outlook, ability to motivate others
  • Desire to encourage, inspire, and aid in transforming students’ lives

Additional Information

Participation Requirements

Availability 

  • Pay is $15 per Hr
  • This is ongoing position will need the coach as and when needed maybe monthly once or twice, we will get in touch in advance to check your availability.
  • We also have 4 days summer camp program upcoming in July,2024 where we will need coaches for 8 hrs per day for 4 days (Summer camp is just for 4 days)
  • Workshops will be ongoing once or twice a month.

Ability to Attend Mandatory Training Sessions

  • Training is provided for this role, but you must be available during the given time available to receive it. (unpaid virtual training)
