Job Description
The role
This is a risk management and business supporting role for the Life & Health business of PartnerRe in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The ideal candidate must be able to manage case underwriting responsibilities and product development support for external and internal clients, provide expert opinions, trainings, and support the delivery of innovative underwriting solutions to clients. The candidate should be able to multitask, contribute towards the growth of our business with prudence and due diligence and strive to enhance our footprint and technical expertise within the industry. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate strong customer-orientation, whilst maintaining a proactive and positive working relationship with clients, team members and cross functional colleagues.
The missions
- Perform underwriting assessment for all lines of business, adhering to Partner Re’s underwriting philosophy, with consistent, competitive, quality and timely decisions for New-business and Claims re-underwriting
- Build deeper engagement with key clients, understand their product and underwriting needs and review, resolve and respond to cedants inquiries while ensuring timely and quality service standards are met
- Participate in the development of the underwriting manual and operational manual. Responsible for providing inputs for developing, implementing and maintaining Partner Re’s underwriting manual guidelines
- Lead or assist in offsite or onsite client reviews
- Review and provide inputs to product design, policy provisions, treaties, underwriting guidelines, initiatives, campaigns, and related requests in a timely manner in order to help develop business
- Provide advice, medical literature review, and relevant statistical research to assist with assumptions setting, product pricing, and development of new pricing bases
- Develop market specific underwriting strategy for the markets assigned and support the identification, evaluation and execution of potential opportunities requested from business teams
- Plan or assist in developing and executing training plans and conferences for Partners Re’s clients
- Engagement in projects and process improvement initiatives (internal and external), new underwriting philosophy, guidelines or responsibilities as required for the team functioning
- Contribute to building the PartnerRe brand by promoting thought leadership through active engagement in external conferences and forums as well as in client meetings, publishing articles
- Travel as per business requirements
Qualifications
About you
- Minimum 7 years’ of experience as a senior underwriter with a direct insurer or reinsurer
- Excellent case underwriting skills with high authorities for mortality and living benefits
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Team player. Experience in cross functional collaboration, projects will be an added advantage
- Good Product development skills will be an added advantage
- Work experience in Hong Kong or Singapore or South East Asia Markets
- Need to have good English language skills, preferably Chinese language skills
- University Degree, preferably in Medicine, Life Sciences or Finance
- Holds a professional underwriting qualification or is working towards its completion (e.g. FLMI, FALU)
