Job Description
PartnerRe is seeking for an External Reporting Intern to work in the External Reporting (Finance) team which is responsible for the production of various financial results to the Group (in Bermuda and in France), to the local Board and Audit Committees and to the Irish regulator, the Central Bank of Ireland. This internship will run from September 2024-June 2025 and will keep full-time hours. The intern will also support the Group reporting team for additional reporting and internal projects. External Reporting receives and analyses the results in producing the reporting packages. The job will offer very good exposure to all aspects of external reporting and will be suited to someone with an interest in developing their career in finance or financial institutions.
The person will have the responsibility for assisting in a wide range of activities supporting the reporting to Group and the Central Bank and developing the internal documentation.
About the role:
The External Reporting team currently consists of 11 experienced members and works with a number of other internal teams, such as Corporate Accounting, Operating Expenses, Actuarial teams, Reinsurance Accounting, Risk and Compliance.
Key Skills:
- Assist with the quarterly reporting process for the European entities under USGAAP / Irish GAAP / IFRS (on the job training will be provided)
- Assist with the quarterly regulatory reporting to the Central Bank of Ireland
- Preparation and analysis of quarterly finance Board and Audit Committee presentations
- Assist with the preparation of Irish GAAP / IFRS financial statements
- Assist with the preparation of tax submissions
- Assist with the development of working files and internal documentation
- Support the wider team on projects that may arise
Qualifications
About you:
- Business degree or similar, 2nd year or after or understanding of basic accounting and financial principles
- Comfortable level of Microsoft Office skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook (advanced level will be an advantage)
- Ability to learn fast on the job and adapt to changing priorities
- Keen eye for detail
- Ability to work on own initiative with a can-do attitude
- High level of efficiency, accuracy and responsibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team
- Interest in developing a career in Finance in a global financial institution
- Full-time Availability from September 2024-June 2025
