Job Description:

This position provides engineering and technical support for the Company’s technology development group. This support includes design and analysis for New Product Development and Sustaining Product Development as well as related project management. The opportunity is a 1st principles based engineering position. The Principal Engineer Senior serves as a lead technical expert, responsible for guiding the design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions to complex engineering problems. This role is responsible for providing strategic technical leadership, mentoring and driving the success of critical projects. Additionally, this role is responsible for utilizing their knowledge base to translate conceptual designs into technical specifications within project scope, budget and schedule.

 

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities

  • Engineer products from concept through detailed design in support of the innovation and technology development program.
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and write and review project requirements.
  • Develop system and product design information and formulate models and simulations to represent their performance.
  • Evaluate user feedback of products for design improvements and enhancements.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to other departments as required.
  • Assist in development of product requirements, specifications, procedures, and standards
  • Development of project work scopes, cost and scheduling for projects.
  • Develop, review, and participate in design FMEA and FMECA studies.
  • Manage mechanical engineers and designers on assigned projects to ensure design quality, budget and project schedule
  • Oversee the successful execution of engineering projects from concept to deployment and spearhead the development of innovative solutions to address complex technical challenges
  • Provide technical insight and recommendations to senior leadership, aiding in the decision- making process
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant advancements into the organizations technology base

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree is required. An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering role with a strong track record of leading complex projects. Experience in the drilling industry preferred
  • Must have extensive knowledge of SolidWorks design software
  • Have extensive knowledge of static and dynamic systems, materials science, and mechanical design (preferable with downhole oil tools or related products)
  • Ability to perform mechanical and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
  • Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks
  • Proficiency in project management with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Oversee and manage the overall quality of projects and/or employee performance.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.

  • Lift, carry, and move objects of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground (gravel, rocks, mounds, ice)

  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull, reach, and use repetitive wrist and hand movements.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and/or ramps while carrying tools requiring a reasonable degree of physical stamina and agility and involving moderate to severe physical exertion
  • Carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (Cold or Heat)
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, reason logically, and make sound decisions.
