Job Description

The Director Drilling Operations provides leadership and management while ensuring the execution of processes and procedures, OFI’s and, capital budgeting financial objectives with a focus on Competency, Compliance, and Cash.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves both internally and externally as subject matter expert for the service/ product line
  • Provides visible leadership with Total Ownership commitment of Service Line instilling Operational Discipline.
  • Accountable for Service/Product Line operational performance in partnership with Hemisphere VP, General Managers and location Operations Management.
  • Executing/implementing corporate service line strategies and plans at the Hemisphere level.
  • Conducting business activities in accordance with Parker Wellbore’s core values and policies. 
  • Drive cost of product/service reduction initiatives at the Hemisphere level.
  • Assessing current and future workload demands and articulate operational priorities and resource needs working alongside the Product Line structure in the Hemisphere.
  • Contributes to knowledge sharing platform and shared lessons learned from/to global database.
  • Customer communication regarding service delivery and operational performance. 
  • Participate with Area/Country/Hemisphere personnel in business performance review meetings with key accounts.
  • Participate with Area/Country/Hemisphere personnel in high impact incident customer response.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the PL team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution.
  • Support Country PL Ops Manages on the day-to-day operations, from tech support, human resources, client challenges, and support services.
  • Responsible for maintaining a profitable P&L within the Service/Product Line.

SERVICE QUALITY

  • Lead Hemisphere operational teams to deliver high-quality services and products to our client’s satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the execution and maintenance of technical information for the product line within company processes and procedures with respect to Service Quality such as Preventative Maintenance, Work Safe Procedures, Management of Change, After Action Reviews, Corrective Actions, etc.
  • Serves as Liaison between Company departments and operations  (Example: Project Sponsor between Tech Services and Location or arranges for TRS SMEs consultation)
  • Field incident management process for operations to ensure meaningful root cause determination, corrective actions and closure.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Collaborate with RTOC, Technology, ParkerTech and other parties to ensure new and relevant initiatives are rolled out
  • Responsible for delivering KPIs and implementing improvements
  • Drive implementation of data digitization and analytics efforts across global operations.
  • Participates in client service quality reviews as needed and promote the Parker Wellbore Service Quality culture in front of the customers.
  • Standardize and share lessons learned across the Hemisphere.
  • Work alongside Service Delivery Organization to develop RTOC capabilities and usage.

FINANCIAL

  • Responsible for maintaining a profitable P&L within the Service/Product Line.
  • Conduct budget P&L reviews and report cost plans to upper management.
  • Actively engage to define and deliver annual objectives aligned to Parker Wellbore’s Strategic and Tactical Plans.
  • Participate in Capital Budgeting process and looks for ways to improve financial performance.
  • Advises on matters to improve financial performance related to the Service Line execution and contracting strategy.
  • Participate with Area/Country/Hemisphere personnel to ensure Service financial targets are met.
  • Work with the commercial team to develop commercial strategies, including pricing, and customer targets.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify selling opportunities and client intelligence for drilling; report these opportunities to regional and country management.  
  • Review the preliminary tender requirements with operations personnel to ensure the proposed solution is feasible and confirm with the customer that it meets their needs. 
  • Create drilling leads and opportunities in conjunction with the BD and country GMs. 
  • Support BDs/GMs on strategies for new market entries

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

  • Required to participate in vendor approval and audits in relation to technical requirements.
  • Participate with corporate supply chain in continuous improvement strategies and activities that develop, evaluates and drives improvement in process methods and procedures.
  • Strategically rationalize and manage the supplier base.
  • Oversee the supplier addition process and supplier evaluations.

TRAINING

  • Advise and review technical content related to personnel training and ensure best practices are followed to achieve highest degree of competency.
  • Strategic Resource Planning for Readiness and Succession planning.
  • Drive productivity and consistency through readiness assessment with Area/Country to align personnel, equipment, products and facilities requirements with customer expectations and business plans from tender inception through execution.
