Job Description
The Senior Tax Manager will assist in U.S. and U.S.-facing international tax accrual, tax planning and research, and in preparing the annual budget and income tax reporting.
Essential functions
- Manage Income tax reporting to ensure all reporting obligations are satisfied accurately and timely.
- Review annual, quarterly, and monthly tax accruals and other accruals on an as-needed basis, including cash suspense account review.
- Prepare tax expense and cash flow budget for assigned country operation on an as-needed basis.
- Assist in the completion of the 5-year forecasted tactical plan of the Company.
- Maintain the tax attributes and other tax-related balance sheet items.
- Provide GeoMarkets with input on plans and budgets.
- Interact with outside tax advisors and accountants to ensure Company’s position is well managed.
- Assist in the completion of audit reports and financial statements.
- Coordinate with internal resources to review foreign tax returns, return work papers and various associated schedules in order to accurately identify any return to provision adjustments.
- Review transactions between countries and between companies for tax consequences.
- Prepare or assist in preparing documentation such as sales contracts, loan documents, appraisals, etc.
- Assists in planning, designing and implementing tax saving ideas, including periodically analyzing the company structure.
- Maintain current knowledge on tax compliance matters and guidance on Accounting for Income Taxes.
- Advise accounting and operations personnel on the tax effect of actual and proposed transactions.
- Support work associated with external tax audits as needed.
- Provide research and planning for both corporate and personnel matters.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Tax Director.
Qualifications
Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance is required.
- Should have at least 7 years of work experience in the areas of consolidated income tax returns and international tax.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Must be able to analyze the impact of operational transactions on complex competing tax structures, both nationally and internationally.
- Must be able to travel nationally and internationally.
- Must have excellent PC skills to include all MS Office products.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to present oneself in a professional manner.
- Must be detailed, organized and task oriented to manage rapid growth and increasing demand for information and results.
- Must have strong analytical skills and be able to make complex decisions while keeping the department’s and Company’s philosophies and goals in mind.
