Job Description

The Senior Maintenance Manager is responsible to ensure that all maintenance and repairs of equipment are performed in a safe and efficient manner. The position supervises onsite maintenance personnel to ensure that proper planning and scheduling of pre-determined maintenance is completed accordingly, including the availability of required parts. The position is responsible for all drilling equipment pertaining to the drilling of the well, including circulating, rotating, hoisting and well control systems. The position is also responsible for uploading maintenance and repair data into a Maintenance Management System (MMS)

Essential functions

Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude. Owns safety standards.

  • Enforce, clarify, and follow Company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the HSE objective of no injuries, accidents or harm to the environment as it relates to all maintenance processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Promote operational excellence through procedural discipline.
  • Delegate work effectively with a clear definition of requirements and expectations.
  • Monitor, participate and supervise maintenance operations in assigned sections to include, but not limited to, safety inspections, developing and implementing modifications and improvements, recommending specifications and scheduling for contracts, inspecting contractor’s work to ensure that safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Assist in the resolution of issues and/or complaints and provide technical expertise in area of assignment.
  • Interact professionally with clients, maintain effective working relationships and work in cooperation with the management team to effectively meet departmental objectives.
  • Assist in the development of the operating budget and monitor and approve expenditures for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintain supply warehouse assuring that all parts are labelled and added to inventory upon receipt, keeping accurate notes of parts/materials issued and, as needed, ordering materials and supplies being mindful of operating budget.
  • As needed, promptly respond to emergencies and coordinate activities with utilization of resources to affect repair.
  • Accurately maintain records related to the work performed and materials and supplies used.
  • As needed, provide on-site assistance to the Maintenance staff, which may include troubleshooting issues, training on new procedures/practices and guidance and assistance on maintenance projects.
  • Provide reports to management to include unscheduled maintenance report, failures report and root cause and preventative measures reports.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective productivity and timely completion of maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be directed.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • Able to identify and understand the functionality of various rig equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain certifications and licenses necessary as required by the appropriate regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in basic rigger’s role to ensure safe lifting operations are performed.
  • Knowledgeable of mechanical/electrical systems and be skilled at working with hand and power tools.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
  • Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
  • Should have good PC skills to include MS Office products, and SAP.
  • Must be able to provide technical support for mechanical disciplines.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and fundamentals of the following equipment: o Hoisting equipment o Pipe handling equipment o Rotating equipment o Circulating equipment

  • Electrical fundamentals
  • Electrical systems components
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills, good common sense and have the ability to follow directions.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of him/her or others.
  • Must be able to recognize hazards, alarms, warnings and the ability to convey these to the proper personnel.
  • Should have good verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate in English with staff, management, customers and vendors.
  • Education, experience, and certifications:
  • High School diploma is required
  • Must be able to obtain appropriate offshore or, certifications
  • Should have at least 8 years of applicable supervisory experience
