Job Description

Reporting to Parker SVP of Global Business Development, the Rig Category Manager is responsible for business development and sales of Parker Wellbore’s global Rig Assets (Owned Rigs, O&M and Dry Lease).

The Category Manager is involved in client management, pricing, marketing and inventory of rig assets.

Parker Wellbore’s global operations are divided into four Geomarkets: Latin America (LATAM), North America (NAM), Europe Africa Caspian (EAFC) and Middle East Asia Pacific (MEAP).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • We are looking for a Category Manager to join our team! As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for managing Rig opportunities around Owned Rigs, O&M (Operations & Management of client owned rig assets) and Dry Lease (of other rig assets). 
  • You will be the one responsible for pricing, branding and promotion of rig category assets with the goal to drive opportunities and sales in close cooperation with Business Development resources in the Geomarkets.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, vendors and internal business partners and Geomarket personnel is extremely important for this role.
  • Relationships with external and internal parties, commercial mindset as well as understanding clients' wants and needs are key components of your duties and expected skill set.
  • Research and analyze data and market insights.
  • Search for insights into client needs and wants.
  • Plan and implement long-term development strategies.
  • Design exit strategies for aged assets.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors.
  • Work closely with Geomarket Business Development personnel on opportunities, bids and strategies.
  • Evaluate and identify rig availability.
  • Strategize positioning of rigs in order to maximize visibility.
  • Collaborate with the market intelligence team.
  • Research competitors and suggest appropriate pricing and promotional activities.
  • Work with customers and suppliers and find new ways of expanding rig-based services.
  • Work with GeoMarket leadership on rig category (owned rigs, O&M & dry lease) budgets.
  • Work with GeoMarkets and Integrated Service Companies to evaluate Integrated Well Construction opportunities between the companies for improved valued based contracting.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • B.S. or B.A. in Business Administration, Engineering or relevant field.
  • An M.S. or MBA in a related field is a plus
  • Previous working experience with a drilling contractor for (10+) years.
  • Expertise in rig category management.
  • Knowledge of marketing and sales operations and processes.
  • Experience with analyzing data and making forecasts.
  • Analytical and critical thinker.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to Influence and communicate (interpersonal and presentation) at all levels of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • 30% Domestic and Global Travel
