Job Description

The Project Manager position is responsible for assisting schedule development and project planning activities. Specifically, the position is responsible for monitoring, controlling, updating, and communication of planning and scheduling activities during various project phases.  

Essential functions

  • Responsible for organizing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and communicating the scheduling management system as directed by project team, functional managers, and internal/external clients.

 

  • Perform analysis of project schedules to help identify risks, and assist development of recommendations for mitigation steps to recover or provide the least impact alternative(s).

 

  • Define project activities with an appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS) by identifying specific actions (engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, testing, logistics, and drilling) to be performed to produce the project deliverables.

 

  • Sequence project specific activities by identifying and documenting the relationships among the project activities.

 

  • Determine activity resources by estimating the type and quantities of material, people, equipment, or supplies required to perform each project activity.

 

  • Estimate activity durations by approximating the time needed to complete individual project activities with estimated resources allocated to a project.

 

  • Develop project schedule by utilizing an appropriate scheduling tool (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and analyzing schedule input data (activity sequences, durations, resource requirements, and schedule constraints) to generate a schedule with planned dates for completing project activities.

 

  • Control project schedule by monitoring the status of the project to update project progress and manage changes to the schedule baseline.

 

  • Ensures communication of project schedule information (progress, performance, trends, and associated risks) is shared in a timely and accurate manner to project team members, management, and the client.

 

  • Support creation, maintenance, and distribution of project planning documents including resource and manning plans, basis of schedule reports, and look-ahead schedules.

 

  • Review of project contracts to assist in development of project planning and project control requirements.
  • Coordinating with project team members to ensure the schedule addresses the contract scope of work and is developed and updated in a timely and accurate manner during the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate Integrated Management System and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that personal behaviors and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.

 

  • Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.

 

  • Provide visible HSE leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and other required safety precautions, and do not take shortcuts or any other unnecessary risks that expose themselves or others.

 

  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.


 

 

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Should have at least 5 years of work experience as a Project Manager in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environment.

 

  • Must be proficient in using project scheduling tools, such as Primavera and Microsoft Projects.

 

  • Knowledge of related drilling equipment, layouts, operations, and rig crew functions is considered a benefit.

 

  • Experience planning project work flow of fabrication, installation and testing is preferred.

 

  • Working knowledge of discipline specific fabrication and manufacturing design, processes, and testing (i.e., welding, machining, etc.) is preferred.

 

  • Must have strong PC skills including Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.

 

  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills including writing reports, emails, and presentations at various internal and external organizational levels (peers, clients, and vendors) are preferred.

 

  • Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions.
