Job Description

The Aviation Captain is responsible for piloting aircraft(s) to transport passengers and supplies in accordance with federal, state, environmental and Company guidelines.

Essential functions

  • Comply with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft's operation.
  • Ensure that pre and post flight inspections are performed in a timely manner.
  • Review weather conditions at destination, en-route, arrival and alternate airports.
  • Prepare and file flight plans.
  • Review and calculate the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts.
  • Use of all aircraft and Company checklists are required, if a checklist is deviated from notify Chief Pilot as soon as possible to discuss reason for deviation.
  • Supervise the first officer (second in command) in any duties necessary for the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.
  • Monitor crew performance, share knowledge with crewmembers and evaluate crewmember potential for advancement.
  • Make decisions necessary for start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the proposed flight plan route or destination as required by operating conditions.
  • Be familiar with and follow Company's HSE safety policies.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure that personal behaviors and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.
  • Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.
  • Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.
  • Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
  • As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 7 years of flying Experience.
  • Must possess the following:
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Airplane Multi-Engine Land Rating
  • Type Rating applicable to aircraft being operated
  • First Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • 3500 Hours Total Time
  • 2000 Hours PIC Time
  • 1500 Hours Multi Engine Time
  • 1000 Hours Turbo Prop, Turbo-Fan or Turbo Jet Aircraft(500 Hours of which must be Turbo Jet)
  • 50 hours in Lear 60
