Job Description

This position is responsible for working with  and supporting Maintenance supervisors (rig and office based) to provide Electrical support, guidence and best practices for planning, organizing and supervising the daily electrical rig manintenance operations and activities, and to provide  the necessary coaching required to successfully execute their roles and responsibilities. 

Essential functions

  • Coach Maintenance/Electrical  team members so that all members fully understand their tasks, routines and procedures related to work managment; Identify specific areas to improve the application of the system over time;
  • Ensure all routine Electrical work is planned and scheduled and that any breakdown work is carried in such a way to minimise production disruption.
  • Able to successfully set prioties and use the systems available to ensure that plans and schedules are optimised and meaningful.
  • Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time restraints and can demonstrate knowledge and fundamentals of the following equipment:
    o  Drilling controls system
    o Power generation system 
    o Power transformers
    o AC/DC motor application and drive systems
    o System components
    o Refrigeration and air conditioning
  • Structures pre-job meetings so team members are engaged and clearly tasked to complete the planned work safely and to the schedule at the appropriate level of quality; Identify issues with achieving the schedule and advise and assist as required
  • Use the CMMS (Oracle/SAP) to notify team of potential work and to schedule completion of tasks while also looking for ways to improve.  
  • Review the work of the crew members, coaching where required to improve performance, the quality and timeliness of the work (including post-execution responsibilities);
  • Work co-operatively with other relevant operating and maintenance crew Supervisors, Supply personnel and Maintenance Planner/Schedulers encouraging feedback both ways;
  • Understand the detail of issues with execution, looking for ways to improve and coach and mentor to ensure that teams are able to undertake this process independently ;
  • Contribute constructively to the planning and scheduled meetings offering advice and suggestions
  • Must possess and maintain certifications and licenses necessary as required by the appropriate regulatory authorities.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of diagnostic equipment

Additional functions

• Assist in the inspection, installation, commissioning, testing, calibration, diagnosis and repair of electrical systems, (VFD, SCR, and PLC System). • Assist in the inspection, installation, commissioning, testing, calibration, diagnosis and repair of AC & DC top drives and top drive related systems. • Assist in the development of maintenance plans, activities and schedules as required. • Respond to downtime incidents in a timely and professional manner. • Assist in Root Cause Analysis investigations as required. • Collaborate with Technical Service as required to propose recommendations for field upgrades, to systems, hardware and capital assets. • Collaborate frequently with internal and external customers. • Comply with all Company and HSE policies and procedures. • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • Must have High School diploma or, equivalant
  • Should have at least 7 years of work experience in electrical equipment; to include power distribution and design and installation of electrical wires.
  • Should have experience supervising others.
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.
  • Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.
  • Should have excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.
  • Must be able to problem solves
  • Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
  • Must have working knowledge of a computer based maintenance systems, Oracle,SAP, etc.
  • Must have excellent computer skills to include all MS Office products.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.  Being multi-lingual is preferred
