Job Description

TheDrilling Construction Supervisor coordinates and directs various and multiple activities including modifications, fabrications, transport plans, rig stack out, start-up operations. In addition, the evaluation and necessary repair of all rig/camp equipment, electrical upgrades and or repair projects. In addition to projects, they assist in Drilling Operations in the daily support of electrical and structural issues.

Essential functions

  • Liaison between Division Operations Manager and the Rig Superintendent, Toolpusher, Construction Foreman, Truck Supervisor, Camp Boss, welding crews.
  • Organizes equipment, material and personnel for various aspects of the operation.
  • Be able to work with Engineering have a vast knowledge of drawings and be able in the designing of Drilling Rigs.
  • Have a good knowledge of lifting equipment and be able to supervise lifting operations
  • Creates Daily Reports and Scope of Works
  • Develop material lists of electrical items that are required for electrical upgrade or repair for rig replacements, upgrades and special drilling operations.
  • Supervises the activities of all personnel assigned to the project including contract personnel that are performing the work.
  • Supervises electrical personnel working on the project.
  • Responsible for keeping track of the project’s progression from start to finish and reporting on a weekly basis the percentage complete.
  • Assist with specific maintenance questions/problems, give advice or acquire information from the manufacturers to help solve rig site problems.
  • Understand and work with relevant regulatory and inspection agencies, including API and Lloyds Register; apply the NEC to rig operations.
  • Experienced in reading and understanding schematic diagrams.
  • Must be knowledgeable of lockout / tag out procedures and maintain a willingness to comply with them.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Additional functions

  • Provide construction/implementation input during scoping and work pack development phases; challenge current work pack model and identify implementation critical requirements (i.e. e-pack for small scope execution)
  • Review completed work packs to ensure all required information is included; verify accuracy of job carded hours and trade requirements (i.e. correct identification of additional resources, such as confined space, abseilors, etc.)
  •  Direct engagement with EPC’s to obtain information and/or clarifications related to work pack instructions
  • Complete fabricator site visits, as required by the ITP hold points
  • Complete material readiness verification at Blue Water prior to load out offshore (ie. hand on materials) Offshore Support
  • Generation of permits and management of SIMOPS through direct engagement with HMDC/Parker Drilling offshore management
  • Coordination of materials once mobilized to the platform
  • Direct supervision of offshore trades and construction activities
  • Daily reporting of completed tasks, including productive time, non-productive time and issues
  • Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude. Owns safety standards.
  • Enforce, clarify, and follow Company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support and assist onsite HSE Advisor for implementing rig site surveys, safety evaluations and hazard identification (hazard hunts).
  • Promote operational excellence through procedural discipline.
  • Delegate work effectively with a clear definition of requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure that Company preventive maintenance procedures are implemented and observed.
  • Ensure that sling/lifting gear register is current and certifications valid, preform periodic inspections to ensure lifting gear is in good condition.
  • Responsible for periodic scheduled rig inspections and filing of all pertinent reports.
  • Collaborate with client drilling representative and coordinate with drill crew to accomplish optimum desired drilling conditions.
  • Collaborates with vendors and service personnel to ensure a smooth transition for scheduled operational changes.
  • Ensure all rig operations are carried out in compliance with policies and procedures while adhering to any state and/or federal regulations.
  •  Attend and actively participate to contribute knowledge, guidance and recommendations at all safety, operational, or leadership meetings.
  • Ensure that scheduled preventative maintenance is completely proficiently in order to minimize operational downtime.
  • Responsible for periodic scheduled rig inspections and filing of all pertinent reports.
  • Comply with platform emergency response plan or station bills during emergencies and/or drills.
  • Provide guidance and support to drill crew and third party personnel when installing rig specific equipment, including but not limited to casing, cementing, wire line and completion equipment.
  • Collaborate with warehouse/materialman to ensure parts, materials and rig equipment are delivered proficiently
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be directed.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • Must possess a High School diploma.
  • 15 years of progressive experience in in drilling or oil field services, with at least 10 years’ experience in fabrication, construction and rig up of drilling rigs.
  • Must possess the ability to use MS Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook e-mail, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of electrical discipline in that pertains to the construction and operation of drilling rigs.
  • Working knowledge of the requirements pertaining to the design, construction and operation of land drilling rigs.
  • Working knowledge of API
  • Working knowledge of structures and design
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with personnel at all skill levels.
  • Ability to speak read and write English is required; other languages, especially Spanish or Russian, are desirable
  • Must be able/willing to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to complete Rig Pass and other certifications (H2S, Fire Fighting, Offshore Survival, etc.) that may be required by the Company or client.
