POSITION SUMMARY

Parker Drilling (PD) Security Coordinator role is responsible for monitoring the security apparatus at various PD locations within Mexico.  This role will audit and assess site-specific and customer-initiated controls to determine if security measures are commensurate with the assessed risk and provisions of the contract. Travel between various rig locations, both northern and southern Mexico will be necessary. Austere environments and living conditions are also associated with this role. There will be instances when the need to remain on location for 24 hours or more will be required to determine if the security measures are being implemented throughout all shifts/rotations. Specific requirements for this role include:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS will include the following:

  • As a subject matter expert in security and risk management, provide effective functional and professional expertise and recommendations to the PD Latin American Business Unit (LABU) Management for security for all Parker Drilling locations in Mexico.
  • Report regularly to the Country Manager, HSE Manager and Corporate Security Manager on all security matters, intelligence and incidents.
  • Provide intelligence updates to site management as appropriate.
  • Review and ensure that site-specific security risk assessments are conducted and current for both existing and prospective PD facilities and operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and update site security plans as needed.
  • Ensure risk management and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) are in place and aligned with the threat and PD Global Security and risk management objectives. Identify gaps and address through effective corrective actions.
  • Generate and distribute security reports to PD stakeholders as needed/ when necessary.
  • Ensure security policies and standards are implemented and communicated.
  • Conduct security awareness training for local PD staff, rig and visiting personnel.
  • Ensure that security drills and components of established security plans are understood and exercised by PD personnel at all locations.
  • Coordinate daily with customer POC(s) responsible for Security and Community Relations in order to ensure that risk assessments are current and that security efforts required of the customer by contract are effectively carried out and adequate to meet current, emerging and evolving threats.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with location and customer HSE Managers, Advisors and Operations on all Journey Management issues to include route selection, hazards, and controls, planning, driver preparedness, communication, vehicle selection and authorization.
  • Maintain contacts and information networks to ensure PD remains informed of security trends in the area of operations.
  • Coordinate security projects.
  • Coordinate protection of personnel, property, and information.
  • Inspect and evaluate physical, technical, and operational security controls in area of operations.
  • Investigate security incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective.
  • Provide management and direction to third-party security providers (e.g. guards), where appropriate.
  • Coordinate with HR Representative to monitor Personnel on Board (POB) registers and site specific security plans.
  • Abide by company policies and procedures. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • A security professional with a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in Mexico.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Intermediate computer and Microsoft office skills.
  • Formal training in critical lifesaving techniques, such as TCCC, CLS, FPOS-I or an equivalent.
  • A comprehensive understanding of military and security integrations, with preference given to applicants that have experience with La Marina and private security interactions and communications.
  • Shall have a comprehensive knowledge of  current threats and bad actors in the region; as well as detailed knowledge of best practices for mitigating risks in conjunction with planning based on Parker Drilling operating procedures.
  • Must be able to identify issues in communications that can create hazards, as well as create a suitable solution to mitigate risk and achieve the goal of securing the worksites.
  • Preference given to applicants that have proven experience in working in environments in the oil & gas sectors, and are aware of HSE protocols when in proximity. 
  • Shall have proven knowledge of defensive driving techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.  Must be able to run and hike in a desert heat and winter environment.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull and use repetitive wrist and hand movements.  The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 75 pounds.  Hearing, seeing ability of rapid mental coordination.  It is required to be mentally alert for entire regular shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will work in Mexico. Some locations may be subject to extreme temperatures, hostile environments, civil unrest, etc. Also, travel to and from work location may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations. Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, chemicals, grease and oil, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with hands in water, and working alone. Parker Drilling will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
