Job Description

This position is responsible for leading the strategic and commercial development of the division or region to include, but not limited to, the daily business operations, HSE compliance for staff and operations, contracts, and the efficiency and quality of overall drilling project(s).

Essential functions

Responsible for leading and enforcing the Company’s HSE commitment.

Maintain and improve the P&L and identify savings and opportunities.

With guidance from the Operations Support Direct, will develop the annual operating budget, annual capital spending and AFE budget.

Oversee the day-to-day area drilling operations.

Maintain assets and records in accordance with Company policies.

Develop and maintain local relationships (customer, vendors, and government) critical to the success of the operation.

Review contracts to ensure Company’s interests are maintained.

Ensure that appropriate inventories are maintained.

Coordinate all rig and equipment movement.

Lead employee development, training efforts and succession planning.

Responsible for inventory turnover and maintenance.

Assist contract personnel in preparing bids, negotiates day rates and settlements with operators.

Review, approve and submit CAPEX requests for equipment, materials and spare parts to corporate office and coordinate shipment once approved.

Confer and cooperate with other management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures.

Initiate and participate in training of rig personnel in proper work related activities coordinated with Rig Superintendent and Rig Managers, set-up with in-house technical training department, safety department and outside agencies.

Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.

Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.

Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.

Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.

Qualifications, skills and abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must have High School diploma.

College degree is strongly preferred.

Must have experience as a Rig Manager, Rig Superintendent, Field Superintendent or Area Superintendent.

Should have at least 10 years of work experience in drilling operations.

Should have experience supervising others.

Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.

Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.

Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.

Excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.

Must be able to problem solve.

Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.

Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.

Must have good computer skills to include all MS Office products.

Must be able/willing to travel nationally and internationally.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. Being multi-lingual is preferred.

This position may work in various locations - both in the U.S. and internationally. Some locations may be subject to extreme temperatures, hostile environments, civil unrest, etc. Also, travel to and from work location may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations. Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, chemicals, grease and oil, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with hands in water, and working alone. Parker Drilling will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
