Job Description

This position is responsible for preparing and conducting HSE audits to support the Company’s Quality & Safety Management Systems (QMS/SMS).

Essential functions

Ensures the Company’s HSE audit program supports all Company goals.

Schedules audits and inspections of the Company’s facilities, rigs, vendors and operational support locations.

Audits adherence to QMS/SMS required processes and procedures at facilities, rigs, and operational support locations; determines corrective actions for compliance.

Writes, reviews, communicates and disseminates audit and inspection reports.

Reviews corrective actions and mitigation procedures to assure compliance with QMS/SMS requirements.

Monitors the completion of all corrective actions identified on audits and inspections.

Manages QMS/SMS related audit database.

Audits shipyards, fabricators and rig modifications to assure compliance with applicable QMS/SMS requirements.

Solicits QMS/SMS performance reports from clients, sub-contractors and regulatory agencies.

Develops auditing and inspection standards, procedures and tools for internal and external QMS/SMS audits and inspections; facilitates regular system reviews.

Establishes the code of conduct for the Company’s auditors and monitors performance.

Plans and implements the development and qualification training of external and internal audit teams.

Advises the Engineering, Operations and Asset Management Departments on preparing audit procedures for customer review.

Develops and administers the QMS/SMS audit annual plan and budget; monitors the budget to ensure cost effective operation.

Reviews rig performance against performance measures; establishes initiatives to achieve goals and objectives.

Establishes effective communication with other department managers and supervisors.

Oversees and monitors the effectiveness and quality of all audit programs in achieving Parkers goals and standards; provides summaries of system effectiveness and maturity.

Supervises the activities, priorities, work assignments and performance of audit teams that may be established.

Provides assistance in producing Company guidance on QMS/SMS.

Assists Project Managers in identifying the root causes of quality issues.

Assists in creating and presenting auditor training as required.

Keeps current on industry standards, practices, and methodologies, as well as regulatory and customer requirements.

Prepares technical reports as requested.

Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.

Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.

Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.

Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.

Qualifications, skills and abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Should have at least 7 years of work experience in auditing in one or more of the following areas finance, quality management, regulatory compliance or safety management.

Must have Lead Auditor certifications and any other applicable certifications mandated by government and/or region.

Must possess direct knowledge of land and offshore drilling operations and API Codes for drilling operations.

Must understand, interpret and implement applicable regulations within regulatory jurisdiction.

Must be able to understand and work mathematical equations.

Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.

Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.

Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.

Excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.

Must be able to problem solve.

Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.

Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.

Must have excellent computer skills to include all MS Office products.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. Being multi-lingual is preferred.

Additional qualifications, skills and abilities

2 years tertiary education, IFAP safety officer certificate or NEBOSH general or ROSPA diploma or WSO CSE certificate, or DNV modern safety mgmt., and accredited safety auditor

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull and use repetitive wrist and hand movements. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 25 pounds. Hearing, seeing ability of rapid mental coordination. It is required to be mentally alert for entire regular shift.
This position may work in various locations - both in the U.S. and internationally. Some locations may be subject to extreme temperatures, hostile environments, civil unrest, etc. Also, travel to and from work location may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations. Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, chemicals, grease and oil, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with hands in water, and working alone. Parker Drilling will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
