Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician’s primary role is to support the Maintenance Manager in maintaining Park Avenue Center properties and grounds in good repair and compliance with all applicable codes.

  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Day to day maintenance of agency facilities including major remodeling, small repairs and building upkeep as directed by Maintenance Manager.
  2. Perform regular preventive maintenance at programming buildings and offsite client residences.
  3. Respond to and complete assigned work orders in a timely and appropriate manner.
  4. Properly prepare surfaces and paint a variety of exterior and interior spaces including the programming buildings and offsite client residences.  
  5. Perform lawn work and snow removal as needed.
  6. Make minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
  7. Respond timely to repair requests during off work hours as needed.
  8. Set up and tear down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms.
  9. Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
  10. Provide assistance to staff, clients, visitors, and other individuals as necessary.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Experience in building maintenance and/or one or more years painting experience preferred – will train the right candidate.
  3. Current/Valid MN Driver’s License.
  4. Ability to display high levels of client service by responding promptly and thoroughly to the needs of both internal and external parties in accordance with Park Avenue Center standards and policies.
  5. Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  6. Must be detail-oriented and organized with effective time management skills.
  7. Hear, speak and effectively communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions and communicating with parties inside and outside of the organization.
  8. Must provide own transportation with adequate insurance and valid/current registration.  Business mileage will be reimbursed.
  9.  Must provide basic hand tools.
  10. Physical Requirements:  Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, squat, climb, lift, stand and walk frequently in the performance of responsibilities including prep and painting of interior and exterior surfaces.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position, working Monday through Friday; with an on-call rotation requirement.
