Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Chemical Dependency (CD) Technician team and for the work schedules of the department in addition to supervising the self-administration of clients’ medication, coordination of care with onsite medical clinic, and providing support to counseling

II.        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Serve as main point of contact for (CD) Technician staff, clinical staff, clients, and other entities regarding clients’ self-administration of medications while escalating matters to the Supervising RN or management when needed

·Evaluate training needs for the department and coordinate training with the help of the Supervising RN

·Maintain work schedules for the department; ensuring proper coverage when needed

·Maintain daily operations flow of the department by coordinating and delegating tasks to the CD Technicians

·Collaborate on projects with the Supervising RN

·Responsible for supervised self-administration of medications and accurate documentation of medications taken by clients

·Maintain regular communication with the Supervising RN and counselors regarding client’s failure to take medications as prescribed, if medication levels are running low, or if there are any medical concerns regarding the client

·Inform Supervising RN of any medication discrepancies, any medical concerns the client may have, or any medical changes such as behavioral or mental health changes that appear different than how client has presented previously

·Maintain compliance in all aspects of the position including, but not limited to, completion of the MAR, regular completion of audits, controlled medication counting, and managing client paperwork

·Responsible for reordering medications for clients who use the delivery pharmacy

·Serve as a resource for clients while working with the onsite medical clinic to coordinate and schedule client appointments while accurately documenting in the electronic medical record

·Support other functions in the building by assisting with initial paperwork for new client admissions, covering the reception desk when needed, closing client files, and monitoring clients providing urine for analysis

·Must have knowledge of and comply with client rights, outlined in part 4747.1500 and of staff responsibilities or be able to obtain knowledge immediately after hire

·Must maintain professional relationship with clients while following a strict code of ethics

·Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

·At the time of hiring, must be free of problematic substance use for at least the one year immediately preceding and sign a statement attesting to that fact

·Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent

·Must meet the staff training requirements in the Park Avenue Center’s Observation of Self-Administration of Medications policy including attending an off-site Medication Administration Course.

·Must have, or ability to obtain, knowledge of client rights, according to section 148F.165, and staff member responsibilities. 

·Must be 18 years of age or older

·Must be First Aid and CPR certified or can become certified immediately after hire

·Must successfully pass a background study completed through the Department of Human Services

·Must possess strong verbal and written skills and present a positive professional image

·Must have the ability to learn and apply clinical data entry in electronic health record system

·Must possess a working knowledge of issues regarding confidentiality

·Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

This is a full-time position working 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday with a starting wage of $15.00/hour.
