Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for supervised self-administration of medications program for clients in Co-Occurring Disorders Program (CODP).
  2. Record and provide detailed description of medications taken by clients in CODP.
  3. Maintain regular communication with Supervising RN and Counselors regarding client’s failure to take medications as prescribed, if medication levels are running low, or if there are any medical concerns regarding the client.
  4. Work closely with the selected pharmacies ensuring clients have medical coverage and accurately determining client’s co-payment amounts.
  5. Must have knowledge of and comply with client rights, outlined in part 4747.1500 and of staff responsibilities.
  6. May not admit, transfer, or discharge clients but they may be responsible for the delivery of treatment services.
  7. Maintain professional relationship with clients while following a code of ethics.
  8. Responsible for reordering medications for clients who have chosen to use our delivery pharmacy.
  9. Inform Supervising RN of any medication discrepancies, any medical concerns the client may have, or any medical changes such as behavioral or mental health changes that appear different than how client has presented previously.
  10. Obtain knowledge via Medline Plus on medications that are unfamiliar.
  11. Maintain compliance when filling in MAR, count controlled medications, manage client paperwork, computer file, and client medications.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the Supervising RN.

     

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At the time of hiring, must be free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding and sign a statement attesting to that fact.
  2. Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  3. Must meet the Staff Training requirements in the Park Avenue Center’s Observation of Self-Administration of Medications policy including attending an off-site Medication Administration Course.
  4. Must be First Aid and CPR certified or can become certified.
  5. Must be able to maintain positive public relations with the community at large.
  6. Must possess good verbal skills and present positive professional image.

This is a part-time position, with shifts available in the afternoons, evenings, or weekends.
