Job Description

A mining concern in the Carltonville mining belt seeks to employ experienced Boilermakers for their end of mining tenure to perform various shutdown tasks. This is a six months contract to commence in early January 2021.

Applicants must have previous underground mining and or maintenance experience. You will be expected to perform the following duties, among others;

  •  Bell, bead with power hammers, or weld pressure vessel tube ends, in order to ensure leakproof joints.
  • Bolt or arc-weld pressure vessel structures and parts together, using wrenches and welding equipment.
  • Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, and defective sections so that they can be repaired.
  • Inspect assembled vessels and individual components and auxiliary mechanisms to locate any defects.
  • Install valves, gauges, and feedwater connections using hand tools.
  • Install refractory bricks and other heat-resistant materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
  • Lay out plate, sheet steel, or other heavy metal, and locate and mark bending and cutting lines, using measuring and or drawing instruments or templates.

Qualifications

Matric or Grade 11

Boilermaking certificate (Red Seal)

Five years experience as a boilermaker

Additional Information

R18,000/month

COIDA compensation in case of accident

UIF

End of contract bonus
