Your Career

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic legal department leading the company’s Global Risk & Resilience team. The Global Risk & Resilience team works with all departments across Palo Alto Networks to incorporate best practices into our resilience operations, crisis management, and operational risk programs.   

The Senior Director of Global Risk & Resilience is responsible for defining the strategic direction and managing the day-to-day operations of Palo Alto Networks’ crisis management, operational resilience and emerging operational risk programs. While this role will partner with the company’s IT and security teams in these responsibilities, it is within the legal function and is not an IT or cybersecurity-focused role.

Your Impact

Plan, coordinate, and manage the enterprise response to crisis events:

  • Lead in identifying the potential implications of crisis events, such as international conflicts, natural disasters, and critical product issues;

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to solve complex product, security and support-related problems;

  • Develop and facilitate table tops with cross-functional team leads to ensure readiness for crisis scenarios; 

  • Serve as the single source of information for executive and internal communications;

  • Facilitate after action reviews with senior leadership to reduce the likelihood of recurrence;

  • Partner with Product, Support and Security teams on the alignment of organizational incident response plans and playbooks

Lead operational resilience planning and initiatives:

  • Establish the strategic direction of the crisis management and operational resilience programs, including ensuring that all teams across the global enterprise maintain and iterate on local-level incident management protocols;

  • Provide guidance to the Operational Resilience team on business continuity and disaster recovery planning activities;

  • Handle special projects as requested;

  • Lead crisis and incident management-related inquiries, audit requests, and support aspects of contract negotiations regarding organizational resilience.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in operational resilience and/or crisis and incident management– preferably in a technology environment; in-house experience at an enterprise software company is a plus

  • Minimum experience must be in a programmatic role with cross-functional responsibilities (candidates possessing only IT or cybersecurity incident experience will not meet this requirement)

  • Effective in building trusted, collaborative working relationships across different functions

  • Excellent ability to handle high-pressure, time-sensitive, mission-critical projects

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; highly effective in setting priorities

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) preferred

  • Familiarity with recognized incident/crisis response program industry best practices

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or other graduate degree preferred

  • Business continuity certification (such as CBCP or MBCI)  preferred

  • Familiarity with ISO 22301, BCI and DRI industry standards preferred

The Team

The Global Risk & Resilience team enables crisis response and operational resilience to support growth of the business, increase safety and security, and build a culture of confidence in recoverability.  We deliver streamlined crisis management (including escalation, response, communications and cross-functional engagement) to reduce overall company risks, and guide and coach functional team leaders to empower them to manage critical incidents.  In addition, we provide assurance of our business continuity and disaster recovery plans to enable uninterrupted services to our customers and stakeholders.

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $227,000 - $312,000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
