Job Description

PAL Robotics is currently looking for Senior Mechanical Engineers who are passionate about robotics, iterative design, and prototyping. You will work on a team of engineers designing new  hardware prototypes and robotic products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other engineers to dream up, design, and develop prototype robots to achieve design targets

  • Develop new concepts and perform analysis on designs while considering constraints from multiple disciplines (electrical design, manufacturing, business needs)

  • Create CAD models, drawings, and specifications for parts and assemblies

  • Support manufacturing and assembly activities 

  • Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, design and implement corrective and preventative solutions

  • Work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multicultural, multi-disciplinary environment

Qualifications

Desired skills:

  • BSME and 5+ years of relevant experience (including MSME/PhD degrees with professional engineering experience)

  • 2+ years of experience in a professional and product driven environment

  • Development of complex products through trade studies or system design and analysis

  • Advanced Solidworks user or equivalent, including finite element analysis

  • Expertise in mechanism design, electro-mechanical actuators, sensors

  • Tolerance analysis and strong understanding of GD&T

  • Expertise in additive manufacturing design

  • Fluent English (written and spoken)

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in robotic system design

  • Metal, plastic and composite materials knowledge

  • Test stand development and validation testing

  • System or topology optimization

  • Previous experience dealing with providers and manufacturing workshops

  • Transitioning early designs to products
