About this opportunity
The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing shift operations and leading a team of approximately 10 Production Operators. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role is accountable for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality production outcomes in line with operational targets and standards. A key focus of the role is developing team capability, supporting maintenance activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and operational performance.
Available shift: Night - 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and coordinate daily shift operations to achieve production targets, optimize efficiency, and meet DIFOT (Delivered In Full, On Time) requirements.
- Supervise and support Production Operators, ensuring they are prepared, engaged, and performing effectively at the start of each shift.
- Ensure compliance with site SOPs, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements, holding team members accountable for performance.
- Develop team capability through skills monitoring, training coordination, and on-the-job coaching to maintain a competent workforce.
- Facilitate effective communication across operations, providing shift handovers, escalating issues impacting customer delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Shift Leader or similar manufacturing leadership role.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; plastics recycling experience is advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead and develop small teams in a fast-paced production setting.
- Experience working in a 24/5 operation with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience with extrusion machinery is preferred but not essential.
- Strong English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.
