About this opportunity
As Maintenance Manager at Pact's Moorabbin site, you will lead the maintenance function of the Injection Moulding (IMM) plant to ensure maximum equipment reliability, plant uptime, and asset life extension. Drive Lean maintenance systems, strong maintenance practices, and advanced mechatronics automation integration to support world-class manufacturing performance. Restore and sustain production flow through structured preventive maintenance, predictive systems, and continuous improvement. Your role includes ensuring full compliance with Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory standards while managing maintenance risk in a 24×7 food‑grade manufacturing environment.
As a key member of the site leadership team, you will contribute to plant strategy, the reliability roadmap, and long‑term asset sustainability.
Your key responsibilities:
- Safety leadership of team and crews with regular participation in hazard ID’s, Safety Behavioural Observations (Audits), risk assessments and WHSE campaigns that actively drive a culture of behavioural safety
- Develop and implement a robust Preventive & Predictive Maintenance program aligned to OEM standards.
- Drive reliability improvements across: Injection moulding machines, Robots, Vision systems, Auxiliary equipment (chillers, dryers, compressors)
- Reduce breakdown frequency and MTTR. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on chronic failures
- Maintain asset life cycle planning and capital replacement strategy.
- Develop technicians beyond reactive maintenance into: Reliability and Automation specialists
- Conduct regular one-on-ones focused on: Skill development and Performance improvement
- Scheduling, supervising and progressing the condition and PM maintenance practices and schedules to efficiently support the production line equipment and supporting services of the manufacturing process to minimise production downtime
- Promoting improvements to safety systems in use on all equipment and production lines
- Continue development of reporting and carryout regular Toolbox Talk meetings on Safety and Quality
- Managing maintenance records to demonstrate adherence to standards and allow for analysis and improvement of maintenance spend.
- Coordinating the requirements for new equipment designs, surveys and maintenance schedules to applicable Australian Standards
- Co-ordinating all contractor support, services, and maintenance activity inclusive of cost and quote establishment, induction completion, JSEA completion and other risk assessments
- Leading discussion and implementation on engineering design upgrade improvements
- Assisting with long term capital planning and implementing capital projects.
- Playing an active part in highlighting areas for reducing production costs such as waste, setup time etc.
- Managing the forecast compilation process, which includes owning the short-term weekly plan and the long-term forecast (three or more months)
- Implement supply chain improvement initiatives, ensuring the improvement of forecast accuracy and inventory levels
- Perform root-cause analysis for continuous plan improvement for key service issues, forecast error and bias
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- A keen eye for detail
- Strong ability to question the status quo and challenge the business positively
- Advanced SAP and Excel experience
- An ability to understand and analyse data to develop trends and set direction for the business
- A formal qualification in a Supply Chain or Manufacturing related discipline
- Strong interpersonal, communication & presentation skills
- A Production Planning background, ideally gained within a FMCG or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Trade qualification (Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics)
- Engineering qualification (preferred)
- Lean / TPM certification (advantage)
- Minimum 7–10 years in manufacturing maintenance leadership
