Job Description
As a Plastics Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all machines and ancillary equipment are set up and perform safely and efficiently, meeting the required quality standards and production outputs. You will complete all technical activities with a high level of competence and timeliness, taking responsibility for basic preventative maintenance and setter training within your designated area.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Install and configure Single Stage PET machines, moulds, and automation systems.
- Sets up, adjusts, repairs and troubleshoots machines which manufacture plastics products.
- Adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time) to meet product specifications.
- Ensure moulds are correctly aligned and secured to prevent production issues.
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime.
- Conduct quality checks and make process adjustments to maintain standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machines and tooling.
- Recommend and implement equipment improvements to optimise efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, adjustments, and production data.
- Adhere to WHSE policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.

Your skills and experience:
- 3 years’ experience as a Plastics Technician (die setter) for injection stretch blowmoulding
- Knowledge of Single Stage PET machines, moulds, and related equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with production teams and engineers.
- Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Information
- East Tamaki site
- This is a permanent full-time role.
- Days of work required: Monday to Friday: 40 hours per week – (8-hour shifts)
- The base hourly rate for this role is between $30.00 to $40.00 per hour – depending on experience.
