About this opportunity
The purpose of the Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability (HSES) Advisor position is to provide oversight and drive consistent implementation of the Health, Safety and Environmental systems across the site, to ensure the organisation meets its legal and ethical obligation to provide a safe and environmentally conscious workplace.
We are open to a part-time engagement (3-4 days).
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct system audits in line with the Group Audit Plan, to ensure consistent implementation and application of the Group system, and support Sites with completion of subsequent action plans.
- Provide a connection between the Site, Divisional and Group level activities and will require championing and monitoring implementation of the Group HSES System
- Identify common health, safety and environmental hazards inherent at the site and establish plans for the control of hazards.
- Provide oversight of critical health, safety and environmental incidents and supporting the Site with incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action closure
- Monitor and drive activities with external regulatory bodies (such as WorkSafe and EPA)
- Leading Site activities to achieve defined HSES objectives and targets.
- Mentor the team to continually improve the safety culture.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Five years’ experience in a Safety and Environmental Advisor position
- Previous experience of implementing, monitoring and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems
- Previous experience leading Site activities to achieve defined HSES objectives and targets.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice, Standards, and associated obligations.
- Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation.
- Clear communication with all key stakeholders around risk management.
- Ensure safe operating procedures are implemented throughout the process and audit for compliance.
Qualifications
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety or Environmental field or a similar tertiary qualification
