About this opportunity

The Assistant Leading Hand is responsible for assisting their shift Leading Hand to oversee all activities and persons within the production hall. Directly reporting to their shift Leading Hand, working closely with and accountable to the site Quality Officer.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assigning and coordinating the tasks for their shift production team
  • Machine operation; ensure machines operate efficiently and produce conforming product.
  • Conducting product testing and making the necessary process adjustments of the machine whentesting indicates that it is required.
  • Conduct all operations in such a manner as to comply with WHS requirements
  • Conduct all operations which comply with Food Safety requirements
  • Conduct all operations in such a manner as to comply with Quality Standards.
  • Assist with overseeing the production hall operations.
  • Promote a safe work environment and adhere to the company safety obligations in accordance with WHS legislation.
  • Adhere to the company environmental obligations in accordance with environmental legislation.
  • Efficiently operate all scheduled production lines and attend to faulty machinery immediately.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to their shift Leading Hand.
  • Coordinate production team activities and assignments.
  • Ensure the production schedule provided is followed to meet production targets.
  • Monitor quality control.
  • Drive housekeeping.
  • Acting shift Leading Hand in their absence.

Your skills and experience

As an experienced Machine Operator, you will be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and pay excellent attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Previous machine operation experience (Blow moulding experience preferred though not essential)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Capable of troubleshooting and resolving problems at the root cause and the ability to make minor machine adjustments to address efficiency and product non-conformances with the use of small hand tools
  • Strong focus on safety and able to apply methodologies to improve processes
  • A commitment to quality
  • Results driven
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of HACCP & GMP
  • Reliable, punctual, and available to work weekends
  • Hold a current NSW forklift licence or be willing to obtain one
