About this opportunity

Join our team at PACT East Tamaki as Maintenance Manager and take charge of optimizing our maintenance operations. Your main focus will be leading our maintenance team towards best practices in predictive and preventative maintenance, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.

Your key goal is to reduce unplanned downtime, keeping our machines running smoothly for our operations team. We're aiming to create a top-notch manufacturing environment, leading the way in New Zealand's use of PET and rPET for food packaging as well as making exceptional products for the waste collection industry through our Sulo brand. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Ensure manufacturing machines like injection moulding and injection blowmoulding are maintained to optimal condition.
  • Work with the Operations Team to achieve all the requirements.
  • Use a consultative and Coaching method to achieve success through people.
  • Introduce modern maintenance practices into a business unit that is receptive but has not really experienced what world class maintenance looks like.
  • Upgrading machines and essential services for maximum reliability and efficiency whilst maintaining costs within budget
  • Adapting to the needs of an evolving plant and process

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Prior experience in a maintenance /engineering leadership role within in an FMCG manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Technical maintenance skills gained in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of tooling and material handling.
  • A strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault finding.
  • Handle a successful implementation / ongoing use of MEX for maintenance management.
  • Exemplary leadership and people management track record with demonstrable engagement and influencing skills.
  • Change agile, resilient, and skilled at navigating through.
  • A strong understanding of FMCG equipment and process complimented by prior experience using the principles of Lean manufacturing ambiguity.
  • A relevant degree in engineering (Process, Mechanical, Electrical) would be very highly regarded.
  • Experience in Coupa or similar system is a plus.
