Job Description
A qualified Diesel Mechanic /Technician will be able to diagnose, provide estimates, and repairs on highly complex electrical and mechanical systems, on class eight tractors. You will routinely make best valued decisions with SAFETY as the determining factor regarding continued operation VS, repair or replace, then perform technical repairs and replacement. Uses technical publications and other internet-based manuals, technical guides, or check sheets. Some employees in this role function as local shop subject matter experts [SME] on all tractor systems. Further, the same may be a resource for Warranty, the Senior Maintenance Leadership Team, and Training Department.
Maintain excellent customer service while providing quality and efficient repairs on Class 8 Tractor and Trailers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Value our customers with a high standard of excellence in quality & efficient repairs as well as excellent customer service
- Diagnose, repair & maintain Class 8 tractors and trailers by analyzing diagnostic test results (computerized, sound, visual, feel, smell, etc.)
- Conduct road tests as needed for diagnosis of repairs and quality of repair completion
- Perform Federal DOT inspections as well as preventative maintenance
- Perform light and heavy-duty repairs
- Maintain company owned tools
- Maintain company owned service trucks
- Participate in company paid training & continuing education of OEM spec changes
Qualifications
- Valid state driver’s license / US work authorization
- Dependable, organized & self-motivated
- (Preferred) A or B CDL, clear of violations/accidents & provide current DOT medical certificate
- Minimum 1yr experience as a Class 8 technician diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems on Class 8 tractors & trailers
- (Preferred) Computerized diagnostic skills
- Willing to obtain certifications (ASE & OEM)
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Outlook Email, RO Software, Inventory, etc.)
- Must provide and maintain personal tools and storage boxes
- Maintenance background
- High School Diploma/GED
