Job Description

The Safety Manager will help meet and maintain all safety regulations and continuous improvement of our health and safety standards. This role will be in charge of managing HSE procedures, keeping up to date ISO certifications, and assisting with creation of new policies. This role will report to the Corporate HSE Manager and will assist with taking a proactive approach to safety, investigate any accidents, and encourage near miss reporting. Other duties include updating safety documents, conducting audits, ensuring compliance with laws, and designing safety training. 

  • To ensure the company meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of H&S throughout the company.
  • To effectively manage and control all aspects of HSE procedures making sure our ISO accreditations are upheld.
  • To enable the ongoing development of innovative policies and practices to ensure we are an exemplar within our industry.
  • To liaise with management to ensure a proactive approach is taken on HSE.
  • Investigate any accidents that occur and drive the near miss reporting process fully.
  • Assess all current H&S documentation, identify areas that need to be altered and provide solutions.
  • Carry out necessary audits and ensure the full implementation of all H&S policies.
  • Control all H&S Managements systems, ensuring we adhere to State and federal HSE requirements
  • Monitor legislative compliance of policies by undertaking workplace inspections of activities and operations.
  • Create reports on all matters relating to H&S including findings from risk assessments.
  • Maintain a central record of all risk assessments, assess their content, and ensure effective and appropriate actions are undertaken.
  • Design appropriate H&S training as required throughout the organization.
  • When necessary, attend HSE emergencies outside normal working hours.
  • Identifies, analyzes, communicates, and assists in coordination of facility-specific OSHA compliance efforts including OSHA 300 logs, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Blood Borne Pathogens, PPE, Fire Prevention, and Lift truck Operation. Communicates upcoming changes and new regulations that will affect the organization.
  • Reports all safety incidents and claims to insurance carrier, monitors status of claims, proactively manages claims to minimize cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • General Safety experience required
  • Have at 2-3 years’ experience of managing a health and safety function.
  • Experience in the Warehouse/Logistics industry
  • Full understanding of legal H&S guidelines requirements
  • Fully aware and have strong understanding of all applicable ISO standards
  • Led and performed site safety audits.
  • In depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
