Job Description

A warehouse material handler is responsible for working through the day-to-day operations on the warehouse floor, including shipping/receiving, inventory movement and order picking. The material handler must be a team player who works with a sense of urgency, has an eye for detail and takes the initiative to identify and solve problems.

  • Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with a forklift or other handling equipment.
  • Completes receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely with the scan gun.
  • Coordinates transportation requirements, special handling problems, and gathers data for preparing reports.
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on the orders
  • Reports overages, shortages, and damages
  • Shipping/receiving
  • Audit inventory when requested
  • Operates a PIV or other warehouse machinery
  • 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain)
  • Help ensure site maintain a safe work atmosphere

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • High school diploma
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Can work without supervision
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Experience with standard office equipment
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment. Conducts safety and equipment checks daily. 
  • Operates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing
  • Follows all safety procedures. Actively works to improve individual and center safety record
  • Actively works for continuous quality improvement
  • Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company

This job operates in a warehouse environment. At times, it may be very hot and can get cold due to the climate.  There is forklift traffic in all areas in the warehouse.
