Job Description

Description of Responsibilities


In the treatment center, evaluates, trains and documents progress of the child needing occupational therapy. 


Responsibilities:


Evaluates the child to include: neuromuscular status, developmental level, perceptual motor functioning, oral-motor functioning, need for adaptive equipment/appliances, fine motor skills and self care.

Initiate treatment in accordance with physician’s order.

Maintains thorough and accurate records, documents therapy program and progress of the patient, reporting to the physician the patient's reaction to treatment.

Designs and implements a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of the patient.

Documents patient charges for billing purposes.

Monitors adaptive equipment needs and makes recommendation as needed.

Provides training to program staff, parents and/or guardians to maximize child's therapy.

Consults with the staff and parents to integrate each child's occupational therapy goals into daily activities.

Reflects current knowledge of trends, research and recent advances in the occupational therapy care of the medically complex child.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Participates in patient care conferences.

Maintain patient confidentiality

Maintain effective communication between staff, health care team members, and family.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 


Bachelor's degree from an approved occupational therapy program.

Licensure as a registered occupational therapist in the State of practice.

Registration with the American Occupational Therapists in the State of practice if required by state.

Current Basic Life Support Certification.

One year experience of with pediatrics.
