Job Description

A Day in the Life:

PRT is currently recruiting a Cold Storage Specialist to work at PRT Dryden in Dryden ON. The Cold Storage Specialist is responsible for the organization of stock and for moving stock in and out of cold storage.  This engaging, high paced, physical position offers a safe work environment and an opportunity for a career that will make a positive change in the world. Candidates should have a desire and keenness to learn about the forest seedling nursery activities, work independently and efficiently. No experience required; full training provided.  

Key accountabilities of the Cold Storage Specialist are:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Keep neat, detailed, and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems and data entry.
  • Monitor stock quality.
  • Thaw stock prior to shipping
  • Keep crop and materials inventory.
  • Assist with crop irrigation and measuring.

About the team:

The Cold Storage Specialist will work alongside Nursery Workers and will report directly to the Nursery Manager.  

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid Driver’s License and a valid certification for operating power mobile equipment. (i.e., Forklift, Skid Steer) *if not currently certified, must have the ability to acquire certification upon hiring.
  • Appropriate work attire
  • Great organizational, record keeping and attention to details skills
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to stay calm and think under pressure
  • Professional communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented personality with a positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45lbs.
  • Commitment to quality and safety
