PRT Brownlee, our largest container nursery in the sunny South, is seeking a Nursery Supervisor to join our close-knit team. As Nursery Supervisor, you'll be a vital part of our leadership team. You'll work closely with our Nursery Manager, and when they're away, you'll confidently take the reins, ensuring smooth sailing across all aspects of nursery operations. This role demands a cool head, strong judgment, and exceptional communication & leadership skills to navigate the diverse needs of our dynamic environment. A Day in the Life of a Forest Guardian:
Picture this: the sun rises over rows of vibrant seedlings, their emerald hues painting a breathtaking canvas. As our Nursery Supervisor, you report to our Nursery Manager and will have a significant impact in overseeing every state of the seedling journey, from germination to harvest. You’ll be involved in the strategic planning and implementation of seed stratification, sowing, fertilization, irrigation, crop management, and harvest.
- Seedling Production Planning: Collaborate with the Nursery Manager to develop and implement strategies for seed stratification, sowing, irrigation, and fertilization.
- Growth & Development Management: Oversee all cultural activities involved in seedling production, including irrigation management, nutrient application, and pest control.
- Harvest Hero: Lead inventory management, customer communication, and logistics for fall harvest and seedling shipments.
- Team Leader & Talent Scout: Supervise and mentor a skilled team, including contract labor, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Facility & Equipment Guru: Ensure the proper maintenance of nursery facilities and equipment to maximize efficiency and safety.
- Inventory Ace: Track and finalize seedling inventory, ensuring accurate record-keeping using our proprietary inventory management system.
- Logistics Coordinator: Coordinate all seedling shipments, including refrigerated van rentals.
- Customer Champion: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring timely communication and excellent service.
- Safety Advocate: Enforce safe work practices and promote a culture of safety consciousness.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager with planning and achieving production targets
- Ensure proper maintenance of the facility and equipment
- Track and finalize inventory
- Processing of Accounts Payable
- Manage labor force
- Complete timesheets for payroll (inhouse & contract)
- Coordinate logistics for all seedling shipments
- Oversee refrigerated van rentals
- Correspond with customers
- Arrange harvest scheduling with Nursery Manager and contract labor force.
- Enforce safe work practices
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement
- Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
- Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement
LOCATION: Brownlee PRT, Doerun Georgia
PRT Brownlee nursery is situated in the Southwest Georgia city of Moultrie, just 60 miles from the Florida line and easy access to nearby shopping, entertainment, recreation, the breathtaking Atlantic coast, and the white sugar sand beaches of the Gulf coast. The beautiful, historic downtown is filled with small specialty shops and an award-winning 1902 courthouse. The warm, long summers and mild winters are perfect for outdoor lovers.
Qualifications
Enough about us, let’s talk about you:
Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of pine seedling nursery/ agricultural operations, horticulture, equipment, irrigation, fertilization, and pesticides
- Valid Driver’s License
- IMS Management
- Strong people and office management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, Outlook)
- Communicate with honesty, kindness and respect
Additional or Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Solid understanding of production processes, quality control principles, and safety regulations
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
WORK STATUS: Full-time Salaried
*Weekdays and weekends as needed, especially during our busiest times of the year.
