R&D Hardware Engineer

  • Full-time

Company Description

Designing and developing innovative products for a leader in industrial automation.

Do you have an affinity for digital and analogue technology? Do you thrive on solving complex problems and identifying alternative solutions within strict time constraints? Then maybe you’d like to work for us. We make some of the most recognised and innovative products in our market, including cool stuff like cybersecurity.

Job Description

About you and the job

Let’s be clear. We’re not looking for the perfect candidate (we don’t believe in unicorns, although we’re pretty convinced that UFOs exist). What we need is an R&D Hardware Engineer who has a feel for material and equipment. Someone who is analytical and is quick to take corrective action.

Sure, we want you to have some relevant experience, so you should have a higher professional qualification in electrical engineering and/or microelectronics. We’d also be happy if you’re comfortable drawing electrical diagrams, designing circuit boards, handling measuring equipment, and finding your way around embedded hardware and software (preferably Xilinx FPGA and NXP processors).

The job itself involves designing, testing and documenting hardware solutions for products that meet EMC and UL requirements. You’ll also be designing PCBs and schematics—preferably with Altium Designer—and programming hardware in VHDL. Therefore, it would be great if you’re familiar with Xilinx Vivado.

Of course, you won’t be working alone in a dark and dusty corner. You’ll be an essential member of our R&D team, analysing complex equipment in order to improve it and making sure all our products are marketable from the get-go. And since we’re a global business, you will need to be fluent in English.

Qualifications

You’d be great for this position if, in addition to all these geeky essentials, you:

  • can express clearly and concisely your findings orally and verbally;
  • are good at multi-tasking so you can work on many projects at once;
  • are able to set priorities in the planning and execution of your work;
  • have an eye for detail and are quick to spot errors in a product;
  • can work independently and under considerable time pressure.

A commitment to learning and fitting in is much more important to us than your technical qualifications…

Additional Information

What will you get from us in return for all this awesomeness? First-hand experience with products that improve and safeguard vital industrial network communication systems; mentoring and a clear path to progression; and an enthusiastic and forward-thinking CTO (he forced us to put that last bit in). You’ll also get:

  • investment in your ongoing education, including professional certifications;
  • the option to work partially remotely and/or on a flexible schedule;
  • a competitive salary and all the usual secondary benefits, including pension;
  • a COVID-free workspace in Delft, with on its doorstep the lively historic center and the train station.
