The Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA) is the trade association for firms in personal investment services and financial advice.

We deal with topics that really matter to enable people to save and invest for thoeir future and our sector works directly with those people.  so whether that is investment policy, new technology and impact on business, cyber security, social impact investing  and ESG, or regulatory change, political and government affairs and the impact on the back or middle office, you will get involved with all of it making for a varied job that has impact.

Job Description

As senior policy adviser at PIMFA you will:

  • Act as policy lead on a number of exciting policy matters effecting the UK’s wealth management and/or financial advice industries.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the regulator, Government and other relevant organisations.
  • Bring people together to develop a collective voice on your topics of expertise.
  • Provide personalised and discreet support to our member firms.
  • Represent PIMFA at virtual or in person external conferences, seminars and roundtables.
  • Assist other PIMFA business areas in growing the Association’s reach and membership.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Regulatory Policy and Compliance.
  • Policy lead on your areas of expertise including drafting consultation responses, policy papers, presentations and articles.
  • Managing communities (committees/working groups) within your area of expertise.
  • Member and stakeholder management.
  • Collaborate with business development, training and events functions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge (min 3+ years’ experience) of wealth management and/or financial advice industries, government, regulatory and investment policy in the UK.
  • Understanding of the contents of the FCA Handbook and ability to navigate it.
  • Working knowledge of at least five of the following areas from a regulatory and operational viewpoint:
    • MiFID II/MiFIR
    • Operational Resilience
    • Cyber resilience
    • Operational technologies (front, middle, back office and interfaces)
    • Transaction reporting
    • Tax
    • Client Reporting
    • Client on boarding processes
    • Client user experience
    • Corporate actions
    • CASS
    • UK and overseas settlement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated analytical and research abilities, and effective presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, self-initiating, well-organised and capable of managing multiple projects at a time and delivering on time.
  • Enjoys and is comfortable working in a fast paced environment and able to deliver under pressure. Able to adapt to changing timelines.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and creative.
  • Proven ability to work with peers and within a small team, excellent team collaboration.
