Job Description

Title: Accounting Manager

Reports to:  Chief Financial Officer

Job Purpose:  Responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through accounting administration and preparation of reports and statements across PHX Holdings and subsidiary organizations. 

Scope: PHX Holdings LLC is currently comprised of three operating companies to include 275+ personnel and a $60MM operating budget. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Maintains the general ledger, recording cash receipts and financial transactions for PHX Holdings and subsidiary operating companies
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with other monthly close processes
  • Assists with preparing quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and financial presentations
  • Utilizes PowerBI/Tableau (or other technology) to build reports and transform data
  • Conducts spending analyses with operating companies to drive accountability and improvement
  • Participates in the external audit process and assists auditors with documentation requests
  • Acts as backup to AP/AR duties
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories
  • Oversight of key capital expenditure processes
  • Performs duties as needed to support the CFO and accounting personnel at operating companies
  • Prepares/maintains Standard Work Instructions for all owned processes
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and assists with corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Liaises with other functional groups and departments to support operational capabilities, changes, and improvements and to communicate timelines and deliverables to complete projects on time.
  • Ensures activities meet and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care
  • Executes all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures
  • Handles all confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in accounting and finance
  • CPA certification preferred (or on CPA track)
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge
  • Strong analysis and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Self-directed and detail oriented
  • Willing and able to travel ~20%
