PETA Asia is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. We operate under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in factory farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and the entertainment industry.

PETA Asia works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Job Description

  • Coordinate and manage a media plan for campaign protests, send news releases to the media, and take other necessary actions to advance campaigns in South Korea
  • Create or assist with the production of print graphics, advertisements, and videos from concept to completion to share via the organization’s social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) in Korean
  • Help develop South Korea-specific marketing plans to reach audiences for various celebrity campaigns, video launches, and investigations
  • Encourage and facilitate activism across South Korea by communicating with activists and encouraging them to take actions in behalf of animals
  • Regularly update and maintain a database of media outlets in South Korea
  • Assist with organizing street theater–style protests in South Korea as needed
  • Prepare, translate, and manage news releases to send to local media outlets
  • Act as a PETA Asia spokesperson by giving interviews with local and national television outlets, radio stations, newspapers, and magazines as needed
  • Stay current on social media trends and how best to take advantage of them
  • Respond to comments on social media as needed
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of the workings of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Strong creative and digital technology skills
  • Some knowledge of animal rights issues in South Korea
  • Basic working knowledge of video editing, including assembling recorded raw footage into a finished product
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral skills in both English and Korean
  • Some experience in working with media outlets and knowledge concerning ways of reaching them preferred
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle preferred
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate for the organization’s positions on issues in a professional manner
