Job Description

SUMMARY


Responsible for operating heavy duty tractor(s), Loaders, Backhoes, Excavators, Scrapers to spread earth, grade terrain, or move dirt and rock.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must have prior experience atleast 1 year of operating heavy equipment 
Operate tractors that level or pick up earth for relocating.
Handle controls, move throttles and depress pedals to begin smoothing or lifting earth.
Align tractor and cutting edge reference stakes and guidelines on ground or positions equipment.
Follow directions of assistant on ground.
Make successive passes over earth until job meets specifications.
Basic understanding of equipment functions and mechanical principles
Attach different types of cutting edges or attachments depending on job.
Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor
Operate equipment responsibly to avoid damage or malfunctions
Practice safety during operation of equipment
Work with foreman and project manager to ensure job is done to specifications.

 

 

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
Trainable and willing to learn
Reliable attendance with dependable transportation to be able to report to jobsites
Ability to stay focus during equipment operation
Ability to multi-task by being aware of surrounding personnel, equipment, listen to CB radio and follow instructions.
Able to pass and maintain pre and post-employment drug screening
Ability to pass work history verification.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the team
Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Required: At minimum a high school diploma or GED, willing to learn and be trainable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Operators are subject to continuous bouncing, shaking and equipment vibration throughout the course of their shift. Work functions require the physical ability and mobility to repeatedly push, pull and climb to control cabin. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions. Ability to sit for a long periods of time.
