PA Consulting’s Medical Device Practice is a multidisciplinary engineering, design, development, and innovation studio based in Boston, MA.  We bring human insight to client teams and develop physical products, digital experiences, and new services.  The PA global engineering organization now includes Cooper Perkins, Essential Design, Astro Studios, Sparkler, and other leading design and insights studios across the globe.  Together, PA’s studio network tackles ambitious, end-to-end strategy, design, development, and implementation challenges, by harnessing the skills and creativity of distributed teams around the globe.  We are constantly challenged with finding solutions to problems that have no clear, immediate answers, often needing to avoid existing patterns and beliefs in find the best path forward.

Job Description

Your day to day 

  • Sketch, design, build, analyze, validate, and refine robust mechanical and electromechanical designs for Medical Devices
  • Manage, mentor, and direct cross-disciplinary teams to conduct research, brainstorm, prototype, test, analyze, document, and present work to medical device clients.
  • Provide technical insight, devise,  and execute strategies to meet project and client goals for medical device.

Qualifications

What you bring

  • BS (MS preferred) in mechanical engineering or a related field and  experience developing complex, technical, or integrated products.
  • Experience solving tough problems within more than one of the following areas: mechatronics, structural design, dynamics, thermal engineering, fluid dynamics, optics, controls, acoustics, precision mechanical systems, product engineering, and design for manufacturing. Mastery in a few is a plus.
  • Mastery of 3D modeling CAD (Solidworks preferred) or engineering analysis tools (Python, MatLab, FEA tools, etc). Experience with both.
  • Experience working collaboratively with other development disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design and/or Software Engineering as well as other product development functions including marketing, manufacturing, quality and/or regulatory to achieve holistic solutions that meet business goals, user desires, and market needs as well as technical requirements.
  • Care deeply about creating solving technical problems that matter
