Job Description

The Commercial Finance Analyst (CFA) is required to work as part of the Commercial Finance team to assist the Commercial Finance Managers with business partnering and management and control of the Business Units. CFA’s support their Commercial Finance Managers (CFM’s) by supporting the Unit to provide ‘real time’ support and analysis. The CFA supports the CFM in providing accurate and timely reporting of weekly and monthly results with variance analysis, creating quarterly Forecasts and annual Budgets and various ad-hoc analysis and projects.

Key responsibilities:

Commercial Finance

  • Assisting the Commercial Finance Manager(s) in providing financial, operational and strategic support to the Business Unit Heads, Partners and Senior Management
  • Monthly reporting of Business Unit Results. Including preparation and follow up of variance analysis.
  • Preparation of forecasts and budget analysis for the Business Units
  • Supporting the CFM to advise the partner group on financial aspects for exciting assignments, bids, proposals, pricing and reviewing commercial contracts
  • Preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis and management of ad-hoc queries on Business Unit financials
  • Making a key contribution to regular weekly and monthly reporting
  • Development of key reports and ensuring these are kept up-to-date
  • Opportunity to develop within this role to take on responsibility for managing specific Business Units including liaison with Business Unit Heads, Partners & Senior Management
  • Support CFM in completion of internal & external audit requirements
  • Manage capability stream providing expense and cost analysis, review and investigation of out of policy/anomaly spend

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a UK 2:1 degree and 3 B grades at A Level
  • Part Qualified Accountant or interest in starting Professional Qualification – CIMA, ACCA, ACA

Experience

  • Prior management accounting/financial analysis experience
  • Strong data analysis/excel skills
  • Strong communication skills with Finance and Non-Finance Partners

Skills/Personal Qualities

  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance personnel at all levels
  • Intermediate/advanced excel skills (ability to manipulate data into information)
  • Knowledge with previous accounting systems would be preferred
  • Ability to respond swiftly to different demands from the business and from management
  • Prioritisation and time management
