PA. Bringing Ingenuity to Life.

We are looking for a Junior Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our IT team, based at our Global Innovation and Technology Centre in Melbourn, Royston.

You would be part of a team responsible for the 3rd line escalation of our server infrastructure and software systems in the live, development and test environments. Deploying and operating a variety of systems including on-prem and Cloud services, this role ensures that all environments are available, reliable, secure and able to meet the demands placed upon on them.

As PA Consulting continues to grow therein lies opportunities to integrate technical solutions and handle migration activities, working alongside architects to design and deliver the most appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities Include

• Supporting business critical systems including the diagnostic and intervening actions required to keep services highly available for Cloud and virtually hosted environments, operating systems, directory services, storage, email and other  SaaS products.
• Implementing new IT technologies and services alongside architects where appropriate.
• Identifying and remediating known IT security vulnerabilities.
• Assisting with Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
• Creating clear and concise reports as required to demonstrate the effectiveness of the environments in question.
• Provide technical support/input to team projects.
• Organising maintenance periods including the variety of changes that take place to keep the infrastructure current and highly available.

This role would require some weekend working and on-call duties, so flexibility is required.

• A willingness to learn new technologies with a desire to progress in an Infrastructure support career. Happy to work in isolation when required or as part of a larger team.
• Basic understanding (architectural and domain administration levels) of Windows operating systems, Azure and Office 365 services.
• Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, Windows Internet Name Service (Wins), DHCP, Routing and Subnets.
• Experience managing the hardware and software platforms associated with virtual technologies an advantage.
• Basic understanding of securing and protecting assets from threats that could compromise the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the environment.
• Demonstrable troubleshooting capability with an appreciation of running high availability systems/infrastructure.
• Ability to develop clear and concise documentation.
• Comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders, both inside and outside of the IT department, to understand opportunities and develop solutions whilst being mindful of the constraints that come from adhering to several international and security standards.
• A keen interest in technology and the IT market.
