Job Description

PA Consulting Group has an immediate opening for a Business Support and Research Coordinator based out of our Denver office. The individual in this role will provide administrative coordination support to PA’s Energy & Utilities Sector team.  This role will suit someone who is highly organized, proactive, and able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to providing quality service, producing high quality outputs and meeting tight deadlines. Someone who is strong in stakeholder management, happy to get involved on different projects/tasks and work collaboratively with teams, with a customer-centric mentality.  

The individual will act as a delivery specialist that provides energy industry related news summaries through the provision of research from secondary sources and subscribed databases either on a standalone basis or in conjunction with team members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The primary role of the Business Support and Research Coordinator is to deliver professional and insightful research summary reports for use internally within PA. The insights from the energy industry news summaries will enable PA consultants to make more informed decisions enabling them to better deliver their consulting assignments and business development efforts.

This would involve:  

·       Conduct Research: conduct research to the scope of work using secondary sources and if required primary means. This will include reading, summarizing and disseminating energy market industry news on a daily basis for the Americas and other select target regions of interest. 

·       Source Management and Procurement Support: The individual will help coordinate and manage all secondary sources, licenses and databases. Ensuring purchasing requirement, approvals and protocols are met and managed seamlessly. This will include liaising with leadership, group legal, accounts payable and external vendors. Ensure data within is maintained and accurate and navigated with ease. 

·       Knowledge sharing and best practices: The individual would be responsible for developing and maintaining best practice processes, knowledge management systems and databases already in place.  

·       Project Management: The individual is expected to carry out work with minimal guidance.   

·       Teamwork: The individual will work as part of a larger team to deliver ad hoc research assignments on an as-needed basis. The individual would be resourceful in creating own network of colleagues in E&U and throughout PA to ensure delivery of research strategy.

Secondary aspects of this role could include:

·       Partner Support: Personal support to members of the leadership team supporting with travel, expense or meeting coordination support.

·       Deliverable Support: Production of high-quality letters, memos, bid support (presentations, proposals and reports), ensuring thorough review and compliance with PA document standards.

·       Teamwork: The individual will work closely within the business support team to find additional ways to support the business and add value.  Providing cover for team members during leave or sickness absence.

·       Ad hoc support: The individual will act as an administrative main point of contact for staff in the E&U team and Denver office and provide support to the business in any other additional areas required.

Qualifications

Types of Work 

An example of typical types of assignments required of this role could include:  

  • Market News: Provide relevant industry market news and summaries to the practice on a daily basis.  

  • Databases: Database work carried out by EAU is quite varied in nature and complexity. It can range from simple contact or qualifications database for sales and marketing purposes to more complex industry specific database.   

  • Market and Industry Trend Analysis: Conducting in depth energy industry research and tracking energy industry trends. A typical market and industry analysis work will involve assessing the market potential in terms of size and growth, analysis of various trends within the market/industry, drivers and challenges, potential opportunities etc.  

  • Company / Account Intelligence & Analysis: Typical company / account intelligence work will involve presenting facts and figures about a company’s structure, business segments, financials, competitors, future strategies etc. Monitoring companies of interest to the practice.  

  • Competitor Intelligence & Analysis: Typical competitor intelligence work will involve benchmarking a company against its competitors against various parameters such as financial performance, services, clients, analyst opinion etc.  

  • Power and Fuel Forwards: Analyze and distribute current power and fuel forwards to the practice.

•         Should possess sound knowledge of tools and techniques on how market research should be conducted

•         Ability to interact with employees at all levels as well as with external clients/customers in a professional manner

•         Proactive, ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

•         Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment; able to assimilate information quickly

•         Strong attention to detail

•         Excellent communicator (both written and verbal)

•         Should possess good presentation skills to present the research findings/output in a professional manner.

•         Should be able to think logically in order to:

o   Effectively assess each research requirement from internal clients

o   To draw clear and concise conclusions from the research work to be presented to various executive leaders across the client teams.

•         Energetic and motivated, confident and assertive when necessary

•         Displays initiative in seeking and taking greater responsibility

•         Candidate should demonstrate an understanding of the energy (including power) industry.

•         Bachelor’s degree and/or at least two years of relevant experience

•         Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and Access)
