Backend Software Engineer

We are re-engineering the laundry process from the ground up. Our goal is clinically-clean laundry with net-zero carbon emissions, from collection, through washing and back to delivery. This has never been accomplished and we are determined to be the first truly sustainable and hygienic on-demand laundry company in the world.

Our software is built using the MEAN stack (MongoDb, Express, Angular, Node.js) and hosted on Heroku. Our mobile apps are written in Kotlin and Swift (we consider moving to React Native or Flutter to speed up our app development) We are also preparing to migrate to AWS.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a distributed role so applicants can be based anywhere in the UK. Please note that you may, on occasion, be required to visit the Oxford or London offices so we can only accept applications from residents based in the UK.
We are looking for somebody with a strong working knowledge of software development. You will either have previous experience in Node.js & MongoDB, or a willingness to learn. We want somebody who is committed to building, nurturing, and iterating on an ever-evolving codebase.
At least 2 years of professional experience with Node.js
Experience with TypeScript
Experience with MongoDB
Some experience with AWS
Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
Experience of unit and integration testing. Preferably using Jest.
Eager to learn & try new things
£30,000 - £50,000 based on experience
