Technologies:

• MongoDB is a document-oriented database and is classified as NoSQL (the data is not modelled in the classic tabular fashion used in relational databases)

• mLab is a cloud service that manages and hosts MongoDB databases.

• Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform, JavaScript runtime environment that lets developers execute code written in JavaScript outside of a browser (eg server-side scripting). The paradigm it represents is JavaScript everywhere, which aims to unify web application development around a single programming language.

• Express is a framework for Nodejs and it is designed for building web apps and APIs.

• Heroku is a cloud platform and allows developers to build, run and scale applications. The Heroku platform runs the customers' apps in virtual containers and allows for instant scaling.

• Angular is a Typescript based open-source front-end framework. It aims to simplify the development and the testing of single page applications. It provides a framework for client-side model-view-controller (MVC) architectures.

• Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) is a service provided by amazon that can be employed to store, in our case, Internet applications. (its possible uses are widely varied)

* MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js make up the MEAN JavaScript software stack for building dynamic web sites and web applications.

The role

The key responsibility for this position is the ongoing technical development of our platform. You'll be involved right across the life cycle of any technical projects from design right through to deployment and feedback and extensive testing. You'll need to understand business and user issues and create elegant technical solutions. You will be responsible for bringing the development in-house from our third-party developers and building a team around you. 

This includes;

• Refining and improving existing platform features
• Improving our use of data to monitor and drive performance
• Managing the development of new features or initiatives
• Refactoring and updating the software
• Developing and improving QA systems

Requirements

We are looking for someone with the following characteristics;

• Intelligent, with good clarity of thought and the ability to solve problems elegantly 
• Scrappy and adaptable and at home in a startup/scale-up environment
• Diligent, takes pride in the quality of work they produce
• The ability to get things done to a deadline and lead a team to do so
• Able to self manage both in terms of planning and testing their work
• Open to changing their minds changes if a more appropriate solution is thought of by someone else
• 3-5 years industry experience
• Keen to learn and adopt the latest technologies
• >2 years experience with Angular (or similar)
• >2 years experience with MongoDB (or similar)
• Some knowledge of modern java-script preferable
• Extremely well organised
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Good communication skills, seeks to understand before being understood
• Interested and preferably experienced in working for a start-up

Salary:

£40-50,000.

Options available and negotiable.
