Oxara is an ETH spin-off founded in 2019 with the vision to enable sustainable construction and affordable housing through the development and the implementation of low CO2 building materials.

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated civil engineer or architect with 3-5 years of practical and hands-on experience to join us on our mission to bring our low impact building materials to market.

As a member of the Application and Construction team you will be working on validation and testing of our products on a 1:1 scale and you will be in charge of ongoing construction projects. At Oxara, we offer you flexible working conditions in a young and dynamic team with growth possibilities and responsibilities from the start.

 

Your tasks can be split into two categories:

1. Product innovation and development:

  • Setting up and executing experiments to showcase and prove the function of our materials in an actual construction application
  • Interpretation and adaptation of existing standards to validate the performance of our materials for specific uses
  • Coordinating and accompanying the production of our materials with partner companies on an industrial scale
  • Planning and execution of project-specific requests for mock-ups and demonstrators
  • Co-development and improvement of new materials with the Material Development team

2. Project management:

  • Consult architects and engineers on the use of our materials for their projects
  • Instruct and support contractors on the processing of our materials
  • Site visits, inspection and monitoring of built applications in Switzerland and abroad
  • Presentations and technical feedback to potential customers
  • Coordinate and arrange the production of our materials with involved partner companies
  • Organize project requests within Oxara to reply to our customer’s requests

Qualifications

  • You have a Master’s degree in civil engineering or architecture with a rich experience on building material technology
  • You have 3-5 years of experience in construction project management and/or in material development including practical work
  • Experience with building physics is a plus
  • You are open to travelling within and outside of Europe for site visits and project coordination
  • You can work independently on a broad field of topics ranging from experimental work in our laboratories for material performance validation to consulting clients on how to use our materials properly
  • You enjoy hands-on work and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and customers such as architects, engineers, material producers and construction workers
  • You speak German and English fluently and ideally can communicate in French
