Job Description

The role

As a Lighting Lead, you'll be guiding a team of artists in delivering high-quality lighting and rendering for VFX productions. This role requires a strong artistic eye, technical knowledge, and the ability to support artists while maintaining consistency across sequences and shows. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing lighting workflows, reviewing artist work, collaborating with production and supervisors, and ensuring shots are delivered to the required creative and technical standards.

Key skills

  • Strong proficiency in Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and Arnold, with a solid understanding of scene assembly, rendering, and lighting workflows
  • Professional understanding of lighting, composition, colour theory, and photographic principles, with the ability to create visually compelling and realistic imagery
  • Solid grasp of asset, FX, environment, and look development pipelines and how they contribute to the final rendered image
  • Proficient knowledge of 2D-3D workflows
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot lighting, rendering, and pipeline issues efficiently
  • Significant experience supervising 3D teams in a production environment, with 7+ years delivering high-end work for feature films, episodic content, or commercials
  • Proven leadership skills working collaboratively with a team, including mentoring artists, conducting reviews, and providing constructive feedback
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and render farm workflows; scripting knowledge is a bonus
