Job Title: UI/UX Design Intern
Reports To: UI/UX Design Team Lead and Director of Technology
Job Description:
The UI/UX Design Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by completing essential tasks in the technology department. We are undergoing changes to our website and are looking for a creative UI/UX design intern to conceptualize new designs and bring them to life in Figma. Once an overall design is chosen by executive leadership the UI/UX Design Team Lead will assign pages (plus any forms or dashboards that go along with them). The UI/UX Design Intern may also have the opportunity to work on the design for our mobile app. This Intern will work in FIGMA, but they are also responsible for creating designs including, but not limited graphics for our website, newsletters, advertisements, fliers etc. This intern will work closely with the COO, CEO, Team Lead, Director of Technology and other UI/UX Design Interns while also working independently.
This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication.
Compensation: This is not a paid position.

Responsibilities:
Review our design for our mobile app and website
Assist with designs for pages on our current website within the already existing design layout
Creating designs including, but not limited to logos, advertisements, fliers etc.
Communicate with the CEO and Director of Business Operations professionally about designs, necessary layouts and content, timelines and ideas
Qualifications
Interest in UI/UX Design or working towards a degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science and/or related fields
Experience with the modern design and prototyping software Figma required
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, ReactJS or similar front-end frameworks preferred
Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop a plus
Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict
Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines
Ability to attend the weekly I.T. meetings
Ability to attend weekly UI/UX Design team meetings
Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
