Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the processing of US timekeeping and payroll in accordance with applicable payroll tax law and SOX procedures.

Additional Information

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for overseeing the processing of US timekeeping and payroll functions and ensuring that payroll is processed timely and accurately
  • Provide leadership, training and supervision to the payroll staff
  • Responsible for establishing goals and objectives as well as evaluating the performance of the payroll staff
  • Responsible for creating, automating, maintaining and distributing management reports
  • Responsible for ensuring system data is up to date on state and federal employment and payroll law requirements
  • Independently conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity
  • Work with HR to ensure benefits policies are being implemented and that accurate benefit deductions and record-keeping is occurring
  • Administer and maintain payroll and timekeeping systems
  • Create and maintain monthly reports
  • Act as liaison to Payroll Company for implementations and report management
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service
  • Develop best practices to improve efficiency of payroll processes
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and more than 40 hours per week if necessary, to get the job done

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or a combination of equivalent work experience and education
  • Minimum 7 years payroll processing and timekeeping experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated coaching/mentoring skills and issue management problem solving skills
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information in a professional and discrete manner
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think creatively to solve problems
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to think analytically and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills a must
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative when appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation.
  • Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet
  • Must have extensive working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional and Data Base management and administration
  • Ability to adapt and utilize various reporting tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to work at a computer, and computer monitor, and use repetitive motion for long periods of time
  • The ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • This position requires sitting 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time
