Job Description

The primary goal of the Data Scientist will be to help drive Optiv’s data analytics further into predictive and prescriptive realms. This role will work closely with the business intelligence team, providing expertise in data science concepts to improve overall company predictability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large amounts of data and develop statistical models to find patterns and solve problems that will help drive strategic business decisions including but not limited to:
    • Predicting financial outcomes leveraging a predictive model
    • Developing nuanced customer segmentation that will inform go-to-market strategies
    • Analyzing purchase patterns to predict cross-sell / up-sell opportunities
    • Analyzing customer data to predict indicators for churn and growth opportunities
    • Quantifying customer lifetime value to inform risk/reward decisions
    • Identifying and leveraging internal signals in the data to help inform services capacity decisions
  • Identify and lead data integrity projects
  • Train members of the business intelligence team in data science tools and techniques
  • ~10% of time free to experiment with the data and test hypotheses

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Highly analytical mind with a passion for conducting complex data analysis
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to translate analysis to insight
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or similar
  • Expertise in common data science toolkits and programming languages, including R & Python
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL
  • Demonstrated experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems
  • Demonstrated analytical aptitude and mastery of data analysis & visualization tools
  • Ability to prioritize and manage through ambiguity with limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years’ recent experience applying data science methods in B2B setting
  • Experience with Domo, Tableau or similar BI tool
  • Experience in the cyber security industry
