Job Description

As the Solution Director for Security Operations, you’ll work closely with our internal teams, customers, partners, marketing and services teams within Optiv to guide solutions from conception to launch by acting as an essential role bridging the technical and business worlds to design solutions and services that inspire our customers and are compelling to the market.

As a Solutions Director you'll be responsible for developing and executing solution strategies designed to drive overall business within our major service categories of Managed Services, Managed Detection and Response and Advanced Fusion Center.  You’ll work across, up and down the organization to develop solutions and services, Go-to-Market, and develop significant business relationships to execute on the market potential and benefits possible for the security capability.

The Solution Director will be responsible for solution development activities ranging from creation, management, launch, overall governance, and ultimately decommissioning. The key elements are ensuring a full range of input from across the business, Security Operations, customers, and industry to translate to the development and overall success of solutions.

The Solution Director will have a breadth and depth of technical experience and business acumen allowing them to be highly integrated in all aspects of the function.  They must possess the ability to foster and maintain very collaborative relations with a wide variety of individuals and leaders across Optiv gaining respect and creating synergy through your thought leadership, demonstrated capabilities and a communication style that fosters outstanding teamwork.

Primary Activities

  • Creating and managing a solution roadmap for Security Operations
  • Orchestrate overall solution lifecycle management from concept to end of life
  • Oversee competitive and market research and analysis as they relate to existing and developing solutions
  • Support architecture, integration, development, engineering and operations activities as it relates to the ongoing maturation and evolution of the Security Operations platform and client portal
  • Support defining detailed, technical and operations requirements to drive continuous improvement, client value and excellence in in 24x7 operations
  • Support defining, relating and tracking of Security Operations requirements to both internal IT and development and engineering teams as well as external vendors and partners
  • Support the development of pricing models and budgeting scenarios necessary for successful launch and delivery by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders
  • Ensure solution delivery capabilities exists or quantify the path, processes, and investment necessary to building or enhancing delivery
  • Work with capability leaders and teams to drive new ideas and approaches, solutions and products
  • Develop solution forecasts and metrics, and monitor and evaluate the results to determine the solution is meeting fiscal, delivery, and customer expectations
  • Help to determine customers' needs and desires by working directly with key clients, capability leadership, and specifying the research needed to obtain market information
  • Assess market competition by comparing the Capability’s solutions to various trends in the industry and within Optiv
  • Provide information for management and Practice leadership by preparing easily consumable and concise special reports and analyses specifically related to the status and overall performance of solutions
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Research and analyze market trends, collect and distill feedback from analysts, customers, partner, stakeholders and other teams to shape our positioning and product messaging

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, lead, and execute a cohesive strategy related to a specific services solution across a security domain, collaborating cross-functionally across regions and internal organizational functions
  • Responsible for managing all relevant solutions and services through the solution management lifecycle
  • Initiate comprehensive assessments of relevant industry trends and business requirements to help successfully develop solution roadmaps and launch new solutions
  • Produce and review product/market requirements documents (MRD/PRD)
  • Scope out initial ideas and provide business case analysis
  • Define and prioritize key target segments, understanding market needs and working with customer groups to refine solutions strategy
  • Senior Management liaison to provide timely reporting of alpha/beta programs, solution launches/extensions, and ongoing sales, revenue and profitability performance against defined business targets
  • Work closely with executives of customers and prospects to accelerate their work with specific security solutions
  • Work with Sales and Solutions Marketing to create enablement programs and develop the associated sales tools including sales presentations and datasheets, competitive analysis, battle cards, whitepapers and opinion papers, TCO/ROI tools, and customer case studies
  • Work with Solutions Marketing to develop content for customer-facing materials to enable marketing programs such as data sheets, customer emails, training, videos, webinars, knowledge articles, blog posts, and case studies to clearly communicate success stories and best practices
  • Work closely with solutions marketing to develop overall go-to-market strategy including solution positioning, competitive analysis and PR campaigns.
  • Work with internal engineering team/product development team/ Practice leaders on product/service build

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or equivalent field. MBA a plus.
  • 6-8 years of demonstrated success in fast-paced Security Operations management role for cyber security software, analytics and/or XaaS-based solutions
  • Proven record of accomplishment of launching successful solutions, managing releases and executing winning solutions and launches with a small team
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate with internal stakeholders from various parts of the organization and drive successful outcomes cross-functionally
  • A track record of good judgment and decision-making in positions with significant responsibility
  • Highly collaborative and able to partner effectively with both technical and field sales teams
  • Experience working closely with engineering organization to define applications and tools and manage them through the entire product life cycle
  • Experienced in working across marketing, sales, and product management teams to achieve shared revenue goals
  • Must be a self-starter with proven ability to take initiative as well as balance competing priorities
  • Strong technical background combined with solid business experience
